Aaron Rodgers sports the classic 1929 Packer Jersey |
When the Packers take the field on Sunday in their third jerseys, it will be the eighth time in franchise history that the team has worn throwback jerseys and the third time ever at Lambeau Field.
- The jersey is navy blue with the number on the front inside a gold circle. The circle and number are enlarged a bit from their 1929 size to comply with NFL regulations regarding jersey numbers. An enlarged number is also on the back, with a nameplate above the number, another modification that wasn't present in 1929.
- The helmet is a solid brown color without a logo to best simulate the leather helmets worn during the era, and the pants are a tan color.
- The Packers sported the uniforms last season against the 49ers at Lambeau Field in Week 13, a 34-16 Green Bay win.
- Prior to that, Green Bay last wore a third jersey back in 2003 at Detroit on Thanksgiving Day. In that contest, the team paid tribute to the 1967 team with a re-creation of the uniforms from that season.
- Green Bay also wore an alternate jersey on Thanksgiving Day at Detroit in 2001, sporting a look from 1939. In 1994, the team wore 1937 uniforms in four contests as part of the NFL’s 75th anniversary season.
- Here is a look at the seven previous games in which the Packers sported a third jersey:
